20+ Years - Uluru Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre

Anangu - the traditional owners along with the National Parks have been trying to have the climb closed for a very long time, and it was certainly a topic of conversation when we worked with them and architect Gregory Burgess back in the early 1990’s. Since it opened in 1993 the centre has been an important cultural facility for visitors to gain an understanding of Anangu’s continuous and deep connection to landscape and their spiritual Tjukurpa - or law. TCL acknowledges all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people — the traditional custodians of the land on which we work. We respect their continuing connection to land, waters, and culture and recognise that sovereignty has never been ceded. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
