Celebrating International Women's Day 2019

For International Women's Day 2019 we asked our staff what equality means to them.

“The equal opportunity to feel safe in our homes, workplaces and public spaces. The Free to Be map illustrates that this is unfortunately not always the case.”

“That everyone one is treated with the same respect regardless of race, gender, class or position. It’s easier said than done. If it was easy, the world would be a different place. It’s worth reflecting on why as individuals, and as a society, we are still struggling with equality, only then can we move forward and make change.”

“Equality for me is where everyone is free to live and express themselves, without other people’s assumptions, presumptions, and exclusion based on race, gender, sexuality or disability.”

“That my son and daughter and kids of their age will grow up in a more compassionate and understanding world.”

“... that people can respect everyday things.”

“Equality is to me the ability to stand in a crowd and not be seen as less than or above any of those around me.”

“Equality is not being judged by my gender.”

“Equality is equal representation at the table.”

“Equal pay and recognition for equal work.”

“Equal opportunities and everyone’s equal regardless of gender, race, age ...”

“Equality means being able to speak out without feeling judged.”

TCL is a proud supporter of diversity in the workplace and gender equity in the landscape architecture profession.
