Landmark Companion: Ray Edgar reviews the Parliament of Victoria Annex project
Architectural journalist and writer Ray Edgar has reviewed the new Member’s Annex at Victoria’s historic Parliament House in an extensive article that delves into the building's fascinating past. The new addition was designed by Peter Elliott Architecture and Urban Design with integrated roof gardens and courtyards designed by TCL. “Where the architecture is restrained, the Australian plants are more flamboyant. Yet the architecture and landscape are entwined,” writes Edgar. “The members’ annexe ... not only solves the longstanding accommodation problem but enhances the surrounds with a new native landscape.” Read the article in full here. The project has recently been shortlisted for several awards by the Victorian chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) and was featured in a page 3 story in The Age on Saturday 13 April.
