The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) has announced the winners of its Library Design Awards. The awards, organized by ALIA in partnership with the Australian Public Library Alliance and the Council of Australian University Librarians, were created in 2017 to showcase contemporary library buildings. The Awards are split into three categories: School Library, Public Library, and Academic Library, with an ALIA Member's Choice Award also given out. The Monash Caulfield Library refurbishment, by John Wardle Architects (JWA) and adjoining Queens Walk project, by TCL, jointly received the top award for best new Academic Library in Australia.

The Caulfield Library at Monash University by John Wardle Architects and TCL Studio won the Academic Library Design Award, for the way the architects “visually and physically connected” the library to the broader campus, “through its glass entrance and western facade with new accessible ground level access for library users. It is a light, safe and secure focal point for campus users, day and night.”

Other winning projects were the Anglican Church Grammar School Centenary Library by Brand and Slater Architects (now BPSN Architects), Shellharbour City Library by Designinc, Lacoste and Stevenson and Turf Design Studio, and Bunjil Place Library by FJMT (member's choice).
