TCL hosts morning tea with Kongjian Yu
TCL was honoured to receive a visit from renowned landscape architect Kongjian Yu, founding director of Chinese mega-firm Turenscape. Over morning tea TCL staff and collaborators discussed the challenges and opportunities landscape architects face in both Australia and China, particularly in regard to water and agriculture. The term 'sponge city' was coined by Yu, who has realised a significant body of built work that remediates urban waterways in China in dynamic and creative ways -- often incorporating agricultural programs, driven by Yu's background as a farmer. Kongjian Yu was in Melbourne to speak at the Living With Water symposium, organised by Foreground and held at the NGV as part of Melbourne Design Week.
