TCL took out a smashing six awards at the 2019 Australian Institute of Landscape Architects Victorian Chapter Awards, held Friday 14 June at MAIA, Central Pier, Docklands. A record 56 award submissions were in the running this year. TCL received three Awards of Excellence: Monash University Eastern Precinct Landscape in Parks and Open Space; Twig House in Gardens; and Parliament of Victoria: Member’s Annex Landscapes in Cultural Heritage. A further three projects received Landscape Architecture Awards: RMIT New Academic Street landscapes in Civic Landscape; Bendigo Garden for the Future in Gardens; and Jackalope Hotel in Tourism. “Landscape architects ensure the complex relationship between people and nature is embedded through the many places that shape the way we live on this planet,” said AILA Victorian Chapter president Adrian Gray. “These awards recognise that great design supports human well-being in our political, academic, health, urban and rural environments. Landscape architects create quality places where people and nature coexist.” State Awards automatically go into the running for a National Award in the same category, to be announced in October 2019.
