About

Newport Quays was a new medium density development in Port Adelaide. TCL provided landscape and urban design masterplanning of the first stage of this large harbour-side redevelopment. Elements include a waterfront promenade, three ‘finger’ parks between apartment blocks, gathering spaces adjacent the promenade, viewing decks over the water, and streetscape treatments.TCL worked closely with Cox Architects and the client, Brookfield Multiplex and Urban Construct, to achieve an urban environment that provides a wide variety of spatial experiences within this reasonably dense development.Custom-designed seating and shelters provide special places of interest for residents and the public. Throughout the site, richly textured and coloured plantings complement the architecture and urban spaces.TCL also worked on Stage 2A, which included a large park dedicated to the local Aboriginal cultural heritage, Lartelare.

TCL acknowledges all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people — the traditional custodians of the land on which we work. We respect their continuing connection to land, waters, and culture and recognise that sovereignty has never been ceded. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
