At 443 Queen Street our design vision was inspired by local Poet David Malouf "the key colour is green, and of a particular density: the green of mangroves along the river banks... of Moreton Bay figs, that are natives in this corner of Queensland..."

About

In collaboration with Woha Architects, vertical living is transformed into a subtropical experience, lush plantings and porosity in the building fabric afford an architecture that breathes. The layout fans apartments around a central open space, allowing air, light, and landscape to flow through. Each level acts as a garden terrace, offering glimpses of the Maiwar/Brisbane River through layers of lush tropical vegetation.

Working closely with Russ Higginbotham, an expert in subtropical plants, TCL developed a scheme that includes a variety of native and exotic plants suitable for the different sun, wind, and elevation aspects of the tower, recreation areas, and apartments.

Generous planters, advanced trees and detailed planting plans ensured substantial plant establishment and growth for residents and public interfaces upon completion. Detailed gardening, horticultural practices and irrigation supported by onsite rainwater tanks were arranged to ensure the successful growth and ongoing sustainability of the gardens.
