The Leunig Fragments
. Film maker Kasimir Burgess, our inaugural Creative in Residence - Kevin Taylor Legacy has released his feature length documentary - The Leunig Fragments. In 2015 the legacy funded the first chapter of the film, which premiered at the 2019 Sydney Film Festival. The film is now showing as part of the upcoming Melbourne and Adelaide Film Festival seasons. With an anarchic, playful and life affirming heart, the film celebrates self-expression, friendship, life and death, and the power of the imagination to ignite, enrage, heal and inspire. Filmed over five eventful years, we observe Michael grappling with life, art and mortality. The reflections of a man nearing the end of his inimitable half-century career encompass the curious boy Leunig starting out; past, present and future hopes and dreams collide in this moving portrait of one of Australia’s most prolific and intriguing artist.. A recent review by Anthony Morris on screenhub.com describes it as the most insightful looks at a major Australian creative figure in years. Kas' is now directing a feature length documentary - Dark Water: The Battle of the Franklin.
