Peninsula Hot Springs opens largest extension to date
September 10th, 2018
Peninsula Hot Springs (PHS) has unveiled a new Bath House Amphitheatre extension, its biggest extension to date, adding seven new geothermal pools to its existing offering.
TCL worked with PHS from the concept stage through to construction documentation to realise this exciting new development. Central to the extension is a new outdoor stage that has been built to accommodate a range of art and entertainment experiences, such as yoga, talks and musical performances.
Several lawn terraces sensitively negotiate the hillside through the creation and placement of local limestone clad walls, pools and an interconnected network of pathways that incorporate existing vegetation and views to the coastal tea tree scrub beyond. Audiences will be connected around a new outdoor stage that draws on sacred principles, developed by PHS in collaboration with Boon Wurrung Elder Aunty Carolyn Briggs and Yuin Elder Uncle Max Dulumunmun.
The development marks a significant step in realising founder Charles Davidson’s vision to deepen the PHS audience’s connection to environment and shift the centre from being an experiential facility to a transformational facility.
