TCL asked, what if this park of the future, was inspired by the oldest continuous living culture on earth?
The design, Flow Lines, brings timeless experiences and stories of Dahrug Country into focus for Bradfield’s central park, in Australian newest city.
Composed of flow lines, journeys, landscapes and experiences that move through the site, providing a striking organic identity for the park, informed by our collaboration with Dharug artist Shane Smithers and his depiction of ground, sky and the vibrations of Country.
We imagined these organic fluid forms that dance and weave, coming together in this park as a place of confluence, a people place, a gathering ground, a swirling of eddies for ideas, celebrations, meeting and play.
Lines that will also connect community to places of ceremony, gardens, meandering journeys, plazas, play, shady spaces, and event lawns.
Enframed by a landscape that will flourish once again on Country, crafted to become immersive, extraordinary, joyous and celebratory. From woodland to forest, to dry river bed, to swamp. Ecologies hosting a range of civic functions and community gathering spaces that contrast to intimate places for play and immersive walking loops. Landscapes that will smudge the park's cartesian frame and engage this future city in conversation with its genius loci.
Flow Lines is conceived as a joyful recognition of Country to guide a bold dynamic future.
