The METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line is a transformative public transport project connecting Perth’s north-eastern suburbs to the CBD. Spanning 21 kilometres, it introduces five new stations—Morley, Noranda, Ballajura, Whiteman Park, and Ellenbrook—designed to be more than transit hubs. These precincts are envisioned as vibrant civic spaces that reflect Western Australia’s unique identity and foster community connection.
The urban design creates welcoming places and amenity within what could be a hostile surrounding context. The station precincts are designed for inclusivity, connecting pedestrians with trains, buses, bicycles and cars. The precinct design celebrates the Western Australian landscape, utilising local planting and materials to create comfortable civic spaces that are enjoyable, vibrant and safe.
Each station precinct is tailored to its local context, incorporating native vegetation, open spaces, and sustainable water management practices. For instance, the Malaga station is designed as a ‘station within a park’, drawing inspiration from surrounding parklands and bushlands. Art installations by local Whadjuk Nyoongar artists further enrich these spaces, creating a sense of place and cultural connection.
This project is not just an investment in infrastructure but in people and place, acting as a key node in inclusive, resilient, and connected communities.
