In 2018 TCL was the Creative Directorate of the AILA International Festival of Landscape Architecture. Led by Kate Cullity, Perry Lethlean, Jen Lynch and Ricky Ray Ricardo, the festival was titled The Expanding Field and held at the Home of the Arts (HOTA) on the Gold Coast, Queensland, 11-14 October.
The Expanding Field surveyed the edges of our profession with the aim of identifying progressive avenues of inquiry, discovering new territory for design and inspiring innovative forms of practice. Drawing its inspiration from the seminal texts of Rosalind Krauss and Elizabeth K Myer, the notion of expansion was be examined through six sessions: Pushing Boundaries; Reimagining Practice; Synergising Technologies; Expanding Territories; Cultivating Cultural Intersections; and Navigating Political Terrain.
