About
The Corso is an iconic place in Sydney’s consciousness, with thousands of visitors traversing its length between the Sydney Harbour Ferry terminal and the Pacific Ocean at Manly Beach.
The design created an open and spacious public place overlaid with five visually strong design elements namely: wave patterned granite pavement, a continuous copse of informally placed Cabbage Tree Palms, a linear water feature, overhead wire-mounted lighting system, distinctive custom design seating and other furniture.
The resultant place has a relaxed egalitarian feel, while also conveying a powerful visual cohesion which provides the backdrop to the constant theatre of the Corso’s passing parade.
